Company Profile GBC Scientific Equipment Pty Ltd commenced operations in 1978. GBC designs, manufactures and markets a range of scientific instruments comprising Atomic Absorption spectrometers (AAS), UV-Visible spectrometers (UV-Vis), Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission spectrometers (ICP-OES), Inductively Coupled Plasma Time of Flight Mass spectrometers (ICP-TOFMS), High Performance Liquid Chromatographs (HPLC) and Rheological Analysis Equipment.

Endorsed by the international quality standard, ISO 9001, the company prides itself on developing products, which exceed market expectations. GBC has been the recipient of many international export awards, acknowledging the superior standard and world acceptance of both the organisation and the products.

The company's head office is based in Melbourne, Australia. Worldwide, GBC is represented by one of the largest distribution networks, in over 85 countries. 20 years after it's inception, GBC is renowned in the elemental analysis field as a result of its successful AAS and ICP portfolio. The company is now leading the world in instrument development, launching the most technically advanced ICP Time of Flight Mass Spectrometers (ICP-TOFMS) and the new Micro Fourier Rheometer (MFR 2100).

Process, Technology & Facilities Manufacturing
The production and testing of analytical instrumentation involves the integration of a number of diverse manufacturing activities. GBC has consciously chosen to retain key production capabilities in-house to maintain flexibility and guarantee quality.

The manufacturing plant incorporates:

Metal fabrication and machine shop
Metal fabrication and machine shop produces high quality sheet metal components and cabinetry as well as high precision machined components in metals, alloy and engineering plastics.

Paint shop and screen-printing facility
Paint shop and screen-printing facility for the metal pre-treatment, painting and screen printing on components and cabinetry employing spray paint booths, a chromate bath system, gas convection oven and a quartz infra red oven.

Electronic Assembly and Test
Electronic assembly and test production of printed circuit assemblies and wiring harnesses (looms). Printed circuit assemblies and looms are subject to stringent in process quality controls and testing.

Optical Coating and assembly
Coating of optical components and preparation of optical sub-assemblies ready for inclusion into the final instrument.

Final assembly
Labour intensive, manual build processes are required for assembly of instruments and accessories by operators skilled to instrument maker level.

Final Test and Inspection
Complete testing and inspection of all manufactured and OEM products to all customer-operating conditions.

GBC Scientific Pty. Ltd. has a mature quality management system, which was originally certified to ISO9001 in October 1993. GBC contracts Lloyds Register Quality Assurance, which are recognised around the world to assess the quality system.
